Celebrate 30 years with Annual Congress and Awards
Award winning Scottish Salon Group - Rainbow Room International came together recently for their Annual Congress at the luxurious Airth Castle Hotel and Spa, in Stirlingshire. Over three hundred team members from Rainbow Room International’s twelve hair and beauty salons arrived at the spectacular venue for a day of motivational activities and a night of awards and fun.
The RRI Congress is both inspiring and motivating and has grown in stature year on year. The day session consists of interactive workshop, which sees each salon team compete against one another in creative challenges before presenting their results to the entire company on-stage. This year saw the salon teams face a panel of dragons in a Dragons Den style challenge. The panel consisted of businessmen and friends of RRI Managing Directors Alan and Linda Stewart. The dragons were salon owners John Whittaker, John Forrester, William McElroy and accountant Jim Ballantyne.
As the salon group are celebrating their 30th year in 2009, founder and MD Alan Stewart gave the team a look back at some of the amazing things the company has been involved in throughout the years. From numerous award wins to magazine covers, photo shoots and celebrities, Rainbow Room International has done it all. The company has won more British hairdressing Business Awards than any other salon in the UK – an incredible feat!
Guests enjoyed a champagne reception and were ‘papped’ by photographers from the Paparazzi. A delicious dinner and entertainment followed with the teams from RRI and their guests, including Publisher/Editor in Chief or Hairdressers Journal International Jayne Lewis-Orr and award winning hairdressers Gary Hooker & Michael Young, all eager to know who had won the coveted awards!
The Awards Ceremony has many different categories ranging from Assistant of the Year and Fantastic Hairdresser of the Year through to the main award - Salon of the Year. Hot on the heels of the individual awards are the Bonus Awards, where members of the team are provided with special bonus cheques in recognition of their hard work throughout the year. This year five members of the team received these special bonus cheques amounting to over £11,500!
As the salon group dedicated the whole of 2008 to fundraising for HABB, Jayne Lewis-Orr presented a special award for the salon that had raised the most money in the most innovative ways. This went to the team at Royal Exchange Square who recorded a Christmas single!
The most prestigious and eagerly awaited award of the evening is Salon of the Year. This year the competition was extra tough with all salons upping their game. The award went to the Buchanan Street salon, recently taken over by Directors Shannon and Wil Fleeson.
Shannon and Wil were joined on-stage by their entire salon team to collect the prestigious award from company directors Alan and Linda Stewart and were absolutely overjoyed; “It feels amazing to be taking this home tonight, we knew we could do it and are so proud of our team. To win Salon of the Year in only our first year as salon directors is an incredible achievement. Every member of the team works so hard to give our clients the ultimate hairdressing experience and we are absolutely delighted to receive this accolade.”
With the awards over and everyone happy, it was time for the party to begin with the team dancing the night away. A delighted Alan and Linda Stewart said; “We have been holding Congress for 21 years and each year it gets better and better. It’s an amazing event for everyone and really builds team spirit and gets everyone motivated for the year ahead.”
