Alan Stewart founded Rainbow Room in 1979.
The concept for the
name Rainbow Room came about due to the intense belief that colour
was
an integral
part of Couture Hair Design. With like-minded people to start the
company off, the success of this concept now sees in excess of
30,000 colour clients every year.
The first salon in Glasgow's most prestigious shopping area 'Buchanan
Street' is 2,500 sq. ft. and was large enough for people to grow
within the company and become part of it.
In 1984, one of the founder members of the first salon, Linda
Stewart, opened a second salon, Rainbow Room Education, a school
and salon at 15 Royal Exchange Square - but due to massive growth
has since relocated to George Square.
As business continued to grow, Rainbow Room Education became too
busy as a salon, so a new property had to be found for the school.
In 1993 they opened a 6,000 sq. foot, four story building on the
opposite side of Royal Exchange Square, which houses a retail shop,
a salon, a studio, the Advanced Academy and a Beauty and Spa. Again
the Academy has outgrown it's location and a new Academy opened
in May 2003 in Howard Street. Glasgow.
In November 1996 Rainbow room opened its first franchise salon
in Clarkston, a suburb of Glasgow. Rainbow Room International has
now expanded to 9 salons and 2 Beauty and Spa Salons providing
a complete head to toe beauty experience. |
