There was plenty to lust after on the catwalks this season, showcasing botanical prints to sculptured shirts and deconstructed denims. Some of our favourite picks spotted this season include printed boots, khaki pants, bralettes and denim skirts. Pam Hogg was a favourite show of ours with patent leather and metallic dresses paired beautifully with big bouncy curled hair! Read our low-down on some of our favourite looks and shows hot off the press...
Miuccia Prada's recent collection opened with knee-length black skirts, but heads turned as models strutted down the runway showcasing bralettes over buttoned-up shirts and distressed t-shirts. This style later popped up again at Mui Mui in the shape of ruched 50s style bikini tops worm over dresses. Some designers opted for sexier looks than others; Alexander McQueen presented studded leather bralettes with sheer dresses. We love this feisty take on office wear!
A huge colour trend for SS17 is fuschia. Yeah that's right you need to think pink! From Couture at Paris Fashion Week to high street at Topshop, on pointed stilettos, it also resurfaced on the runway at Bottega Veneta with hot pink leather coats. Valentino stole the show at PFW with its cape/dress mix which was tight at the neck and floated elegantly to the knees, a very brave look but one we may dare to challenge.
Sportswear is making a huge comeback for SS17 and was spotted at Dior with Maria Grazia Chiuri making her debut, taking the theme of sportsluxe and turning it on it's head to be utterly chic and wearable. We saw Alessandro Michele put 70s running leggings under elaborate flouncy ball gowns and tulle skirts, but it was Versace at Milan Fashion Week who had the most fun with this trend - sending models down the runway in tracksuit tops covered in crystals and pearls and drawstring nylon leggings. A trend we can easily adapt to suit our needs, and an excellent one for us hairdressers...it gives an excuse to wear comfortable trainers in the salon!
